Michael Heitzman is the Artistic Director for New Musical Development at New York City’s historic Lucille Lortel Theatre. His critically acclaimed, reimagined production of 42nd Street was recently produced at The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and Drury Lane Theater in Chicago (Jeff Award nominee, Best Director). Upcoming: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring David Archuleta at Tuacahn Center for the Performing Arts and Beauty and the Beast at The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Other recent credits: Beauty and the Beast at Tuacahn, PCLO, North Shore Music Theater, McCoy/Rigby Entertainment. At Sacramento Music Circus: Newsies, Big River and Legally Blonde. North Shore Music Theater: SHREK and Disney's The Little Mermaid (IRNE Award nominee, Best Director), VICES (Jeff Award nominee, Best Director) and Buyer & Cellar at The Mason Street Warehouse. Work abroad: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast/Moscow, Paris and Amsterdam. As a writer, Michael received a Grammy nomination for co-writing“Throw That Girl Around” from the Broadway musical Swing! For television, he co-wrote the comedy pilot “Scott Free,” developed with Barbra Streisand’s production company Barwood Films and Kelsey Grammer’s production company Grammnet, which was purchased by Paramount Pictures. He is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild, BMI, Writer’s Guild of America, East and SDC.
